Consult Dr King

Christine King  BVSc, MANZCVS (equine), MVetClinStud

I have been practicing holistically since 2004. I'm now retired from full-time practice, focusing instead on providing telehealth and telemedicine services to clients and vets throughout Australia and around the world.

Telehealth

Telehealth is a broad term for the use of technology to virtually deliver medical or health information or client education. For me, that includes phone and video conference (Facetime, Zoom, etc.).*

Telehealth gives me a lot of latitude to discuss all manner of medical and other health-related topics with you. I'm simply not permitted to make a diagnosis or prescribe treatment without an in-person visit.

If your veterinarian has already made a diagnosis and recommended treatment, I am free to discuss both with you, including other conditions you may want to explore with your vet and other management options you may want to consider.

* Please Note: While I use email to schedule appointments and request patient information, I do not offer consultation via email.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is more specific. It's the virtual practice of medicine, and it carries the same legal requirements and restrictions as in-person practice.

These requirements include veterinary registration/licensure in the state in which the animal lives, and a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship, which generally requires at least one in-person visit.

I offer telemedicine consults to existing clients and to veterinarians. With the former, we already have a valid vet-client-patient relationship. With the latter, we don't need one.

Medical intuition

In addition to my veterinary education and clinical experience, I use medical intuitive evaluation in my practice.

[I presented a workshop titled Medical Intuition in Veterinary Practice at the 2025 Integrative Veterinary Conferences Australia meeting. Click on the link to read my paper.]

Harnessing my intuition to evaluate a patient greatly expands my ability to understand what's going on and how I may be able to help.

Telehealth guidelines allow me to discuss my findings with you, but you'll still need to follow up with your vet for examination, diagnostic tests, and treatment. My evaluation is simply to supplement your vet's in-person care.

Making an appointment

Use the form on the Contact page to get in touch, and we'll arrange a time that works for both of us.

Please note that I live near Melbourne, Victoria, so I am on Australian Eastern Time, which is UCT/GMT +10 hrs (standard time, April–October) or +11 hrs (daylight saving time, October–April).

My consultation fee is based on a rate of $250/hour.

First consultations typically take 60–90 minutes ($250–$375).

We can keep going beyond that if you like, but I cover a lot of ground in a consultation, and you get to ask whatever you want along the way, so you'll likely reach saturation point after ~ 2 hours ($500). It's really up to you, though.

Follow-up consultations are generally much shorter, and are pro-rated at the same hourly fee.

Payment is due at the end of the consultation, and may be made in cash, by debit/credit card (via Paypal), or with direct bank transfer.

Thanks! I look forward to working with you.
